Vincent The Soul Chef

I love music... any kind of music... as long as it's groovy.

After a decade of trial and error, here is the official website where I attempt to chronicle my forty year obsession with all things vinyl. I dedicate this endeavour lovingly and respectfully to each and every single cratedigger the world over who has offered me education and inspiration either directly or indirectly. Without you, this site, much less my record collection, would cease to exist. Thank you and enjoy.

#lifechanger

Hello, kiddies.

There isn't a day that goes by where you say something to the effect of "that song changed my life". Believe me, I've said it more than a few thousand times in my short life. If you follow me on Facebook, whether as a friend or as a member of the many vinyl groups I belong to, you've undoubtedly seen the hashtag in my posts or comments over the last three years. There's a reason for that... I don't take my love for music lightly, but that in and of itself is a gross understatement. The prime years for my obsession were definitely when I was a precocious teenager, especially when I got my first job, and I could afford to buy countless records with my earnings. Sound familiar? Well thankfully, I still have most of them, in varying degrees of condition of course, depending on how much they were played. Some were played way too much. Some weren't played nearly enough. Fact of the matter is that all of them have a special place in my heart, and I hope to be able to share some of them here, along with the stories that go along with why they mean so much. With that said, let's get to the heart of the matter...

Somewhere during my young adult life, I was turned on to the darker side of the spectrum. I still miss William, and all those records he let me babysit for over a year whilst he traveled south. Many a cassette tape was created back then, and of course I got lucky and found (and subsequently bought) a lot of them along the way in record bins and such. Recently I purchased a new truck complete with a cassette player, so as a treat to myself, I jumped in the ol' time machine and made this virtual "tape", chock full of plenty of old favourites, which can be had courtesy of that ever popular player thingie below...
